As we expand into the cyber-world of marketing, I'm filled with both angst and excitement. For almost 40 years, we've been able to engage with you solely on the brick and mortar level. But the times, they are a’changing. For us, we've now re-entered into the .com world along with our three physical locations in Vienna, Rockville and Frederick. I hope this helps us help you, for when it is all said and done, it is all about helping you solve problems by making your solutions accessible.
The "angst" I have is about how small retailers like ourselves and most “Mom & Pop” stores are being put out of business as a result of the well-poisoning by Amazon and the like. The tapestry of small unique businesses that make up most towns and communities are being bulldozed by this soon-to- be monopoly that doesn't feed back into your neighborhoods. With any and all local businesses pushed to the wayside, the global players homogenize the landscape until it all looks the same - another town of Cracker Barrels and Walmarts, with nothing in between. We're swimming upstream and holding onto the "old ways" of customer service, unique product availability, and the instant gratification of your needs, but it has become more complex than we could have ever imagined when we started this in 1979.
Having said that, we still endeavor to persevere - which makes us stronger and better in the long run - so please have patience with us as we learn the curve to make us even better to earn your business. Please support all small businesses in your towns. We're your neighbors as well, and if you'd like us to stick around, it's up to your support! Also, if there's anything we can do to better provide service to you as a customer and as a community, please sing out - we'd like to be around for another 40 years!
